‘gods of search’ are searching your PC

they are sheer geniusus and never stop to amaze me…

here is there latest technology innovation!! GDS – Google Desktop Search…

my initial impression – hmm Win – F is out of my keyboard vocabulary… the tool is a very small 400 k application which lies in the system tray ‘almost’ undetectable.. it indexes every goddamn thing on your machine and makes it searchable. the indexing is done when the machine is idle. initially it will take some time to index everything on your machine… but once that is done.. you virtually have everything on your fingertips…

cool app! we needed it! just like gbrowser

100GB Email Account!! ??

Hellacious Riders, an online motorcycle magazine based in Irvine, California, announced that it launched a 100-GByte email service to its users.

Hellacious Riders’ primary business is an online motorcycle magazine which publishes articles about motorcycles, lists classifieds, and provides access to a topic-specific search engine.

In order to attract interest, the company launched a 3-gigabyte free email service recently, and since then has signed up more than 52 million users. As a way to promote the site, it’s increasing the capacity to 100GB, and users can send attachments in sizes up to 500 MByte.

100 GByte would translate into approximately four million emails or 200,000 high-resolution digital images. In a challenge to demonstrate the size of the account, hriders.com is challenging users to fill up the account with data. The first user who is able to use the complete space will receive a free email account with one TByte space on a dedicated server.

Bluetooth is turning black!!

Last time when i had posted about the virus in mobile… i was amazed the technology the hackers were into! com’on man you gotta bug some one’s mobile without his permission is like you are two step ahead of security!

now here’s the new one.. the hackers – they prefer to call them selves researchers – have developed programs and ways to connect to your mobile and do all sort of fancy stuff from it! read on the find a few of them…

1. connect to any mobile – as far as a mile away and take control of the handset.

2. make calls through the mobile and route it to your phone

3. connect to a dial up connection to internet through the mobile.

4. connect to the remote mobile. make it call you up silently… and listen to the conversation the person holding is having

5. download and entire mobile data – including addressbox, sms, files and even internet cache!

and the most interesting one! –

receive calls!!!! yeah – you can have some one call you up on the mobile and route the call to your laptop without the person noticing it!

the only good part is.. if the owner notices the activity on the mobile.. he can switch it off! :) but i’m sure it wont be long before the “RESEARCHERS” develop ways to disable the power button!

First Mobile Virus!!

The first ever computer virus that can infect mobile phones has been discovered. The virus – called Cabir – is a proof-of-concept worm that replicates on Symbian phones. This worm repeatedly sends itself to the first Bluetooth-enabled device that it can find, regardless of the type of device. For example, even a Bluetooth- enabled printer will be attacked if it is within range. The worm spreads as a .SIS file, which is installed into the APPS directory.

If the virus succeeds in penetrating the phone, it writes the inscription ‘Caribe’ on the screen and is then activated every time that the phone is turned on. There is no payload, apart from the vastly shortened battery life caused by the constant scanning for Bluetooth-enabled devices.

Phew! Talk about technology!
